Explain this square footage!

Check out the floorplan of 3D at 345 Meatpacking. The living room full length is denoted as 45 feet, and the sum of the living room and bedroom widths is 23 ft (13+10). So the MAX!!! it could possibly be is 1035...but the apartment cuts in half way so its clearly not even that much. http://cdn.cstatic.net/images/gridfs/508ac04f85216d19850000e4/345meatpacking_3d.jpg Offering plan says....1157. When is someone going to do something about square footage calculations??

Finish reading the offering plan. The ft² are calculated from the outside of the exterior walls and halfway through the inside walls. That's the standard method.

If this was a full rectangle, it'd be about 1198 ft². Add the little ell into the hallway, and substract the little rectangle, and 1157 ft² sounds right.

You can always recalculate every apartment you see by your own method, or just refuse to consider any apartment whose numbers were calculated by a method you don't like.
