how do foreclosure auctions work and how does one get past auction results

how can one get the results of the past auctions -- propertyshark claims to have them but when you read the fine print they only have brooklyn and queens. Also, how do these work do you need cash to cover the bid or is it possible to finance? How do you become eligible to bid? do they actually hold the auction on the designated day, or is there a high chance that it will not happen (I keep seeing listings that say postponed from previous date)? also, is it like a regular auction -- people with cards raising their hands etc Thanks for the education
