Anyone know why the maintenance is so high on this unit? Relatively low floor, and very standard amenities make this over-$2000 monthly charge a little unreasonable, IMO. from what I've seen, (and I've seen plenty of 1BR inventory), maintenances range from the $1100-$1450 for units in the 850sqr ft range (with similar amenities, and as long as the building is nothing special). This is CONSIDERABLY more -- very standard looking building. Anyone know why? does anyone have any insight into the financials of this building?

A decently located UES apartment on a tree lined block, a good sized well maintained co-op, assuming solid financials and well run, with full time doorman and live in super - is probably running on average between 1.6 and 2.0 psf now for maintenance. At 950 gross sf, that would put this in the proper range of $1520 - $1,900 maintenance. So while that actual maintenance does indeed seem a little high, your suggested numbers of $1100-$1450 are waaaaaaaaaaaay off, unless there's something that I'm missing.

Keep in mind these are just a few that are ON THE MARKET... plenty more that people are living in.
Like I mentioned, these numbers aren't "suggested," they're what I've seen. And a simple "advanced search" on SE yields just that. So yes, I believe there is something that you're missing.
So my question stands: why is maintenance so high? Does anyone have any insight into the financials or anything else about this building?
