The interesting thing here is that in most markets in the US where housing prices move higher it is the poor who are squeezed out. There aren't enough rich people in the world to price out the poor and the middle class from each neighborhood, but we've seen the poor get priced out of many neighborhoods and replaced by middle class and wealthy newcomers.
But here in NYC we've decided to protect the poor and leave the midclass to be the ones pushed out.
Seems unusual social engineering to me.
A proposal for half price wings on Wednesdays and a free side of jalapeno poppers when ordering a pitcher of Coors Light is the best idea yet! I wonder what Bloomberg thinks about that? Will there be a stochastic price move in pitchers of colors light?
First you've got to define "poor" and "middle class." Are those definitions different in Manhattan than the rest of NYC and the country?
Christine Quinn is the ethically-challenged co-dependent enabler of Mike Bloomberg. She's carried more water for him than Gunga Din and how does she get repaid? He publicly begs the rich and powerful to step up to the plate and be named as his successor.
Interesting perspective Jazzman.
That's actually bloat from water retention; appropriately enough, she did propose constructing a dike around the city in Sandy's wake.
