Discussion about 7 West 92nd Street #2
If you earn $93,000 or whatever it is, you could not afford this place. Seems ridiculous

At least the writer of the listing did us the favor of spelling out the maximum income. I love looking at HDFC units, but I wish all brokers would include income figures so that we know if it's worth our time to look at.

A $600k apartment with a maximum income of $93k looks like code for "high-savings, age ~60 empty nesters only".

I looked at this building in the summer of 2011. Several of the buyers had rich parents who were buying the apartments for their kids who did not meet the income level. Or they simply gave their "underpaid" kids the money to buy themselves. Seems a bit odd that income restricted buildings provide a fertile ground for trust fund kiddies, but the system allows it. The broker that showed us was clearly annoyed we could not pay cash like her other clients... Fortunately or not we are now priced out of this but at the time my wife found the corridors leading to the units to be very narrow and she refused to have anything to do with this place. Some of the 3 bed units scrubbed up real nice though and the prices have gone up from 400k to 600k after renovation in 18 months.

Correction, it was early 2010 we looked and prices were low 500 then for 3 beds.
