Discussion about
Anyone live here or know of people who lived here? Its in townhouse co-op. Large 3 bedroom downstairs for sale. What do you think of the building? Any issues with rodents? Anythingto be concerned about if you have kids or babies?

It's not a townhouse, but rather a set of three apartment buildings, all built at once and 100+ years old. That's not necessarily bad, but only the front rooms will have an open exposure. The rest look onto narrow airshafts or into a shallow back yard.

#2A, the one you're looking at, is better because the west-facing back rooms look into the back yards of townhouses that weren't built as deep.

If you like the location and the block, then go look at it.

I don't know what people with kids want, aside from an elevator so they can stroller-ride rather than walk. This one has an elevator but no doorman, but no sense paying $500+ per month for one if you don't care about it.

Manhattan's full of buildings that old, and lots of people prefer them to post-WWI buildings. (And lots of people don't, but there's something for everyone.)

Before I see a property, I always type the address into the site to see if any violations, past violations etc. I got to this address by typing in: 111 w 82 Here is the link: http://167.153.4.70/Hpdonline/select_application.aspx

It's safe to assume that every NYC apartment building has rodents and the more so in an older building and on the lowest floors. You may never see them, but that doesn't mean they're not there. I thought I'd point this out since it sounds like you have young children and I know some of my friends with young children would not move into a ground / 2nd floor apartment an older building precisely for this reason.

What about all those people who buy brownstones and walk-ups in Brooklyn, West Village, etc with little kids?

I said "SOME OF MY FRIENDS with young children," NOT "no parent with young children." ???
