Discussion about
Wharton this. Ivy league that. Real estate barons. Masters of the universe. Soon you're going to start comparing SAT scores... Let's play poker. Settle on a date, time and buy-in, and we can set it up online. (I'd rather play in person -- and would gladly provide the table and chips -- but I can't imagine anyone's going to offer up their home or office as a venue. Please let me know if I'm wrong.) No limit hold em. I'll play any buy-in from $10 up to $1000. And to sweeten the pot, I'll kick in an additional $500 donation to the winner's favorite secular, non-political charity. Spunky? Digs? Malraux? Deuces? iMom? Will? Markz? Poorishlady? mh23? Evillage? Who's in?
I am sooooooooooooo in.
Will match Yorick's most excellent $500 donation to winner's favorite secular non-political charity.
And I will brings snacks.
Would love to participate. Just returned from playing at bellagio poker room last week where I suffered a couple bad beats that have me itching to return to the tables. Would be happy to host but unfortunately our new crib won't be ready for another couple months and our current place is too small.
I'll also play online if required
depends on when, but sure, Ill play
all of my $$ is tied up in overpriced RE ;)
What's the game structure? Tournament or cash game? Unlimited rebuys? What's the blind structure? What online site did you want to play on Yorick?
no online! set up a place for a cash game and i'm THERE! :)
I could probably persuade my husband to let us play at our office in the W. Village, but the problem with a cash game is twofold:
The first is the questionable legality. Even without charging a fee, no one can agree as to whether it violates any laws. That makes me less eager to advertise a game -- even one where $1000 is committed to charity -- on a public website.
The second is security. If the buy-in is cheap enough ($50?), I suppose that would eliminate any incentive for would-be robbers. But if we start talking about a $500 entry fee, well, that's enough cash in the room to make it attractive to low-lifes.
If we played online, I'd suggest playing a tourney on Full Tilt Poker. I'd cover any fees and arrange for them to escrow the charity money.
If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm willing to do some work to make it happen.
It's not illegal if the house doesn't take a cut. And yes I would always worry about security.
