If anyone has lived or sold here, any opinion on prices, location, pluses, minuses, please? Thanks. http://streeteasy.com/nyc/building/166-east-35-street-new_york
Don't know the building itself, except its exterior - but I've always loved the very beautiful block it's on; directly across the street is # 123 - a massive stunning mansion / embassy type of townhouse, the likes of which you'd find in the 70s & 80s off Fifth.
In my opinion, it's one of the nicest blocks in Murray Hill (& located practically dead center of the neighborhood).
The building is well maintained with newly renovated lobby and elevators, doormen and the porters I have encountered have always been friendly and helpful, management company is responsive.
Location is pretty convenient and central, particularly if you drive. Midtown tunnel feeds out onto 37th, 35th and 34th so expect slightly heavier traffic in the mornings during rush hour. A and B lines face away from 3rd and so street noise isn't a factor. Tons of restaurants and bars nearby, though it's much more active south of 34th. New Fairway at 30th and 1st Ave is a very welcome addition.
You're looking at the studio or the 1 bed? I've been in both lines recently and happy to share my thoughts (pros and cons) on pricing, building financials, board, and any other details about the area (I live in the hood). Please feel free to contact me off board.
