Like the ones shot out of the submarine. Great to see Manhattan real estate stronger than ever. To all those who suffered through the uncertainty and paralysis of 2008/2009/2010 I salute you. Your rewards are well deserved. Now hang on to that missile for the ride up. geez that inventory line looks like a limp....

steveF: Not so much. Just jigger the graph/chart dates to start March 2008 to present. We're really just returning to mean in a time of tremendous volatility...

Brooks. No I know my sites you can ask anyone in the neighborhood.

matsonjones, the perfect storm is brewing in the bulls favor. Inventory is lower than...well..it's the lowest ever and demand is....well...go to UD and see for yourself or visit some openhouses.

Real estate prices are cheap compared to the relative value of the US dollar. Keep printing dollars and devaluing the dollar and watch Manhattan prices and rent continue to rise. I have to assume that's why gasoline prices are at 4 bucks a gallon today yet no one wants to accept the fact the gas prices are up due to the weakening of US dollar.

No, the price of oil and gasoline is going up in large measure due to the falling value of the US dollar. Here read this. http://www.forbes.com/sites/louiswoodhill/2012/02/22/gasoline-prices-are-not-rising-the-dollar-is-falling/

RE is another asset and I would have to assume that if the dollar keeps on falling which it will over the long term then price of RE especially in Manhattan will continue to rise as measure by the US dollar.

Here is an example of how our weakening dollar plays a role of jacking up asset prices.

"The value of the U.S. dollar plays a big role in these decisions. Yves Gougoux, a 61-year-old advertising executive who lives in Montreal, plans to close Tuesday on an oceanfront home in Vero Beach, Fla. "I look around and see more and more French Canadians down here," said Mr. Gougoux, who plans to raze the $1.5 million property and build a home with a pool and gym. With the U.S. dollar and the Canadian dollar near parity, the price of the house comes to around 1.46 million Canadian dollars. Ten years ago, when one U.S. dollar bought 1.53 Canadian dollars, a $1.5 million home in the U.S. would have cost 2.29 million Canadian dollars."

so look at it this way condo prices are not really rising it just that you need more of those worth-less US dollars to buy the same condo then you did ten years ago.

SteveF actually wants everyone to forget... he got decimated in real estate, so he pulled out and moved into stock after most of the runup. He started an entire thread on it.

Whoops...
