A). Why would anyone want one?

B). If you get one, get the highest horsepower available or it will break frequently.

I will need an outlet installed under the sink. So, in essence, is this an electrician and plumber job or is a plumber familiar with the electric components?

Disposal won't help your Drano budget.

Try scheduled snaking combined with with an enzymatic maintenance product. Plus of course a strainer basket that will stay in place in the position you want it to ... the kind with a v-shaped spring clip at the bottom, instead of the frustrating rectangle that makes you take the while thing out.

Higher-end disposals have better soundproofing, in addition to max HP. Avoid at all costs the builders' grade ones.
