Landlord wants to turn my apt into common space?

I have a 1 year lease on a market-rate apartment in Manhattan. The landlord wants to convert my unit into a common space, like a lounge or party room, for the building. Can my lease be terminated before its expiration date for this?

From an AGENT standpoint, most leases I've seen have some sort of clause included to allow for this kind of thing. Have you approached your landlord yet and tried to negotiate something that works out for everyone involved?

The landlord hasn't said when exactly they would want to do this, but they have had people come in to size up the unit visually for the conversion. Should I have an attorney examine my lease?
