Broker not doing her job, finding my own tenant

From just what you mention, it sounds as if you don't owe her anything.

You have an oral contract with her. What was said? You are more than likely off hook.

I thought brokers get paid all the time for not doing anything. What am I missing here?

if you never signed anything, then you had an unofficial open listing, and that means you dont owe the broker anything, unless you verbally or in writing told them I will pay you even if i procure my own tenant.

But the job of a rental agent IS to do nothing. So why are you disappointed?

Without a signed exclusive right to sell contract, you shouldn't have to pay the broker.

My mistake, not a "right to sell" agreement. Thought it was a sale.
