Discussion about
Should we be suspicious of a 6-month lease from a large property manager like Brodksy / Glenwood? We really liked one apartment and were quoted a rather high price from the building's agent for a 1-year lease. When I pointed out that the price listed on the website was $300 less, I was told that was for a 6-month lease, and we would be subject to a lease renewal increase after 6 months. Of course,... Of course, he couldn't give any indication as to what that increase might possibly be. On one hand, it will be in October / November, which is not prime rental season, compared to now. On the other hand, is this just a ploy to get us locked into the building and then jack up the rent 10%? I have never heard of buildings like this doing 6-month leases for LESS money than longer leases, so I am suspicious. Thoughts? [less]

Yes, they are out to fuck you, because it is impossible to move in 6 months time.
What is the property?
Don't tell no_cojones the name of the property ... no good will come of it. We spend too much money keeping people in prison as it is.
Hmm, Jim never has a second cup at home.
Brodsky offers "No-Fee" rentals. That means there are no agents involved. I am sure Brodsky will assist you if you simply put all your trust in them.
personal advice... do not sign a 6 month lease...stand firm on the 1 year lease price and see where it gets you.
A 6 month lease is just another option to the renter. There isn't anything suspicious about a 6=month lease option.
