Discussion about
Anyone also looking in the south harlem area. How's the market for condo? What's the current level of activity? Like a place and would like to put in an offer 5% below ask, but have been reading about bidding wars in other parts of the city, etc.
Similar thing going on in South Harlem ... but it's gang wars instead of bidding wars.
Does your safety and well-being mean nothing to you?
Better to buy in Manhattan instead of Harlem.
@alanhart - please keep these strong statements to yourself. Harlem is part of Manhattan!
Prices in South and Central Harlem already seem pretty high. Perhaps further north may be a better investment as gentrification slowly marches northwards.
Msky: we have been looking in that area as well, I think most places are selling at ask (or more). I feel you should pick a place you love if you are going to be staying there. Gentrification is happening so regardless I think the property will do well in 5-10 years.
South/ Central Harlem is almost as active as lower portions of Manhattan. It's tough to find any real bargains at this point. Since you found a place you like- bid what you feel you can live with no matter what the outcome is.
