2 weeks ago the tenant below me had a leak in her apt ceiling. The super had to make 3 holes in 3 different walls in my apt to find and eventually fix it. It was the buildings issue and its their responsibility to fix the walls. The super along with the management companys' painter assured me they will restore the walls. The painter has been fixing walls over several days and yesterday put the first coat of paint on it. However I wasnt happy because the walls in my opinion still needed to be sanded prior to painting. I brought this to the supers' attention and he agreed and he said he will get the painter back to go over in detail all issues I told him about. My question is if I am not happy with the final job(i just want the walls to look the way they did prior) what is my next step? Contact the management company? [less]
Rental? Co-op?
But more important, why are you setting yourself up for disappointment?
i own the condo. i spoke to the super this morning and i said i dont want the same person who worked on the walls as before-he did an unacceptable job. the super said he will call to the management compnay on monday. i told him so will i. what is my game plan? i have been inconvienienced by this situation and have given the super and painter a week to fix the situation and its not good enough? can i bring in my company of choice to fix the walls at their expense?
There's a fine line between looking for a problem and looking for a soution.
i dont follow
its clear to me by looking at the shoddy work they did they are not capable of fixing it correctly. if they knew what they were doing it would look fine the first time!
let me clarify - im not talking a stray line or two-i mean a noticeable gap where the spackle and wall meet. also instead of painting the entire wall so there is no noticeable difference they chose to only paint around the area.
Your condo is unusually accommodating. Most condos/co-ops will fix only the plaster, leaving painting up to you, no matter whose fault it is. Other it turns into a big mess, restoring people's wallpaper, fancy paint jobs, fuss-pot finishes, etc.
If you can find someone to blame, maybe their insurance will cover your painting cost.
