Discussion about 2378 East 19th Street #D5
- 4-stories POORLY-MAINTAINED building with NO ELEVATOR - NO GARAGE or street parking - Originally it was a 2 room studio with a built wall separating kitchen - Apartment size is 400 square feet MAX - Maintenance is as high as in the luxury buildings with 24 hr security and a swimming pool I've never seen such a dishonest agent hiding this info from the public in her listing and wasting people time on viewing.
It's actually in this building: http://streeteasy.com/nyc/building/2746-east-19-street-brooklyn
I don't have a dog in this fight, but I find your post irresponsible.
It's the broker's job to sell apartments, not list reasons why you wouldn't want to see it. I find nothing misleading in the broker's ad, though I can't speak to the square footage, as no floorplan is given.
No elevator? Of course not in a 4-story building in that neighborhood.
No garage? Ditto. Most buildings in NYC don't have them. If there were one, I'm sure it would be listed.
"No street parking"? There is, you just have to grab it when it comes free. No different than the rest of the city.
Maintenace not listed? I'm not aware of any requirement to do so, though most brokers will. If it's absurdly high, they're not going to highlight that fact.
Unless it's superb ("white glove building"), brokers generally won't list the building condition.
So you got sucked into going out to Sheepshead Bay for a viewing, based on some fuzzy pictures and a minimal listing? Sounds like the broker was doing his job. Hated what you saw? Happens all the time when you're looking.
Mister, my point is a studio should NOT be listed as a 1BR at the 1BR price
