More park space for Williamsburg/Greenpoint. Only question is what happens to the farmer's market! WILLIAMSBURG — The largest, most popular green space in North Brooklyn has gotten the green light to grow even bigger. McCarren Park has won city approval to expand by another 33,800 square feet, officials said. The extension — proposed back in 2010 — will be made possible through the conversion of a street that intersects the park into a pedestrian plaza. The street, Union Avenue between Driggs Avenue and North 12th Street, connects the triangle with McCarren Park's dog run to the southern section of the space. The Parks Department is still seeking funding for the permanent reconstruction of the street into parkland, a spokeswoman for the agency said. But in the meantime they are creating a "temporary design" to turn the street into a plaza as early as next summer, the spokeswoman said. The Open Space Alliance and the Department of Transportation are also working on the project. [less]
Is this the same Wmsburg that is 97% safe?
Think we're down to about 96% because of the massive influx of baby strollers. Dangers of yuppification.
What do you think the percentage will get to once we have BdB in office?
It's actually hipsterfication. I hated yuppies, but hipsters are so much worse. I can't imagine what idiots will be coming to NYC next. Each is more clueless than the previous and is willing to pay much more just to be around imbaciles who are just like them.
Ab: Hipsters have mostly been pushed over to Bushwick. I have not seen anyone riding a unicycle in months.
True -- most condo buyers in Williamsburgh these days ride unicorns.
"Imbaciles"
Sometimes the auto-correct feature is your friend.
irregardless of that Aboutready, what's your take on Williamsburg?
There's a certain amount of irony when one is referring to people as idiots with a misspelled word. I usually don't pay any attention to errors with this sort of venue. We're not writing research papers. But that was funny.
I like it, thanks for asking.
Imbecile ranks between moron and idiot.
