the fact that they removed sorting is insane. Basically they make you scroll a ton and took out all the functionality of the site. No sorting and so neighborhood selection by map? Taking that away is insane.

This is depressing. They took away the storm zone information on listings. I'm sure the brokerage community hated it. Now I have to check each building with the FEMA maps.

I just did a search for housing I'm interested in buying, it just sucks. SUCKS.

Fortunately, the New York Times has improved in so many ways. I just wish they'd add the storm zones.

"About StreetEasy

StreetEasy is a website dedicated to making the online real estate search simpler for everyone. Our site provides access to reliable sales and rental listings, comprehensive data and relevant neighborhood information in metropolitan areas. Unlike other real estate websites, StreetEasy is an entirely neutral, third party resource. In the market, there are both brokers and consumers. We’re simply here to connect and empower the two.

We understand how the local market works, so we build tools and products tailored to the specific features of the market and the specific needs of our users. There are thousands of sales and rental listings on the site, but as a consumer you can filter and narrow your search according to locally relevant and personalized criteria. Agents can market their listings, create branded profile pages, monitor listing traffic and use our advanced search function to find the best-matched listings for their clients."

I think the current path will open the door for a new upstart.

Hope the gang is smart enough not to sign non competes. :)

Too much white space = too much scrolling down below the "fold." Why all the wasted space on the page?

Also, it's really hard to see which listings are available for a building, plus more scrolling on each building page. It was great before with "at-a-glance" info.

I miss the old layout from a few hours ago. The old layout was compact, tight and functional with only relevant info. This new layout looks more "designed", but less user-friendly. :(

I'm available for UI testing for future rollouts. :)

I can't believe this new layout.

The old one was already old.. the new one is even older.

All these years developing progressive UI through other websites.. and here none of the benefits.

A map in the center, real time filters on the left & on the top bar. That would be an update.

ZILLOW, bring your UI .. otherwise we are stuck in the past.. like most of the real estate in NYC..

All about appearance now. Modern "flat" design. Usability is complete garbage, though. Function is gone. It's like they hired a designer, but forgot to get a UX person. That's what happens when small successful businesses sell themselves to large, stupid ones. Look at what happened to Woot after the Amazon sale. (and Amazon isn't stupid, but they still ruined it)

Hi everyone,

- Sorting has returned. It is next to the view selector on the search results. http://bit.ly/19U5xuZ
- @cavejohnson that property type and date options for recorded sale search will be back today.
- We are definitely aware of the speed issues users were experiencing yesterday. We believe we have ironed out most of these problems and in our measurements the site is now much faster than it was before.
- @madisonstreetez custom polygon search will be back shortly.
- @wcen123 The neighborhood map selector shall return very shortly!
- @kharby2 Storm zones are coming back. Like soon.

If you notice anything else that is missing, or can't find it, please let us know. All data items (storm zones/citibike map layers/search statistics like median price/size) and all search filters will be back. Obviously it's going to take a little while to iron out all of the issues but please be assured our team is working on it full time.

Zillow, Streeteasy, Kraft, Oscar Myers.. who cares who owns this site.. but gosh... what a horrible way for a MULTI-miilion dollar organization to roll out a new website...

I mean, why not have an option for users to revert back to the old site till you iron out the bugs on the new one?

Why not have a focus group of several HEAVY streeteasy users help determine the utility and functionality of the "new and improved" site first...

I am not expert in determining a business model, but these were just some common sense suggestions, no?

In the several hours to several days your site is proposing we wait for old functions to return... you have probably lost several THOUSAND subscribers to competing sites... Simply because they had no choice.

I really hope you guys can get your act together... and FAST!

It's fine. Like all things, just need to adjust to change, but I will agree with the above about one thing is the sorting option and the unlimited scrolling of listings. Like every large brokerage in NYC that tried that, they all pretty much did away with that immediately. The looking into an endless bucket of listings is very annoying and frankly, after about 2 mins last night, I was done. Plus when you page back, it prompts you (sometimes) back to the top and you need to rescroll. If I have any positive criticism for the Streeteasy folk, I would remove that feature ASAP.

we are not bling and don't need fonts that 90 yr olds can see without glasses.
having each piece of info on a separate line created a scroll to infinity.
our screens are not 800X600 anymore, unless you want to create 1 site for iphone and ipad.

if my team would've done something like this at my job, we would've been forced to revert back and say good bye to our year end bonus.

Another thing that I guarantee will be a massive issue is the "in contract" good banner across the photos. It's too muted. I willing to bet most people wont even realize it and many brokers will be contacted. I entirely understand your logic, that people look at the photos first and they would see the banner, but I find that most people are morons, sadly and in the past I am still contacted about listings even when in contract is stamped in 4 places in red. Part lot of people(buyers) don't understand the basic concept of "in contract." My gut tells me this will be an issue. There is plenty of space under the address and company name to have it in 14-16 point font in red.

Sorry I wasn't referring to the sort option above. What I am referring to is the endless page scrolling, which as I stated, had been a spectacular failure for the brokerages and they are or already have done away with it. I never understood the appeal of this feature. It could quite possibly be the most annoying thing ever invented on the internet. Scroll down, 30 seconds to load, load error, click on item, view, page back, reloads to the top, scroll down, wait to reload and over and over.

Doesn’t look good! Very flat and also appears to be non functioning and non user friendly- having tried doing anything much yet but will try again in a couple of days as Streeteasy says they are working on it? Have to wonder though ie: I loved these white scrubby sponges by “Twist” that I had bought at WF- couldn’t find them anymore- then found them online- ONLY the company had been bought by another large corp related to MC- Ordered them and after a long wait received them only to find they were totally inferior- coming apart at the seams after 2 days! As the new owner manufactures another type of white scrub sponge (the only other white one I know of) I have to wonder if they bought “TWIST" to kill the competition???

Bring back the old format (or at least an option of the old format). Very important to be able to see a whole listing without scrolling. New format is pretty but makes looking at a lot of listings quickly much tougher. Also, the time sequencing on the price history is strange. At least give us an option to switch back to "days ago" vs. "days later" from the past. And I like being able to see a longer list of discussion topics on the main page.

pinestreehouse makes an outstanding point that if brokers such as myself are having a difficult time with the new site functionality, what's going to happen with the pedestrian user.

I remember a couple weeks ago when Zillow acquired Streeteasy the general sentiment was that Streeteasy was able to accomplish what no other site was able to in the New York market. It has a lot to do with brokers, many of which, use Streeteasy as their primary real estate database above their own overly complicated multi-million dollar propriety systems. Without getting too specific, it's actually been a topic among agents that some brokerage sites are really poorly designed and lack decent functionality. Interestingly, in these discussions, many people referenced Streeteasy's no bells, stripped down, date first approach.

What Zillow needs to keep in mind is that New York brokers, and apartment seekers, are by far and away much more detail oriented than anywhere else in this country. I mean Jesus Christ, once you leave New York, it's like people don't know what a floor plan is. Try calling a broker in Miami to see an apartment. They pick up the phone, if they pick up the phone and their first question is generally, why? Seriously, go on Zillow and look in California or Florida. 1000's of apartments and houses and not a single floor plan and 40% of the photos are upside down, the size of thumbnail (not formatted correctly) or sideways. It's a complete shit show anywhere, but New York.

The point is Streeteasy's success is in a large part, because of brokers. If they are creating "just another brokerage site" then what's the point. We'll move on to the next thing, maybe gah, go back to OLR as a secondary means of data. It’s also of value that as a very active broker, I ALWAYS tell customers, go to Streeteasy for supporting info, etc. I’ve been one of the brokers who sees value in transparency.

The new site is difficult to navigate, and not nearly as intuitive as the old site. I hope streeteasy will come to its senses and realize the layout and functionality of the old site were far superior to the new site. Zillow bought streeteasy because it had the magic touch that they could not replicate. Why then would you change the site to be MORE like the failed Zillow model? Makes zero sense. I would highly recommend for streeteasy to push back against new management and reinstall the old site format. The new site is cumbersome, disorganized, and just plain bad.

No option to select the type of housing (coop, condo, Multi, etc.,) in the recorded sales search OR the time frame of the search (last 6 months, etc). As an appraiser, this is one of the critical conponents of using Street Easy..... Poof! It's gone. Please bring back the recorded sale customization.

Welcome to the new StreetEasy! We've updated our look to bring you an easier and more intuitive search. Our redesigned site allows you to browse with fewer clicks, access better and faster search results and view larger photos everywhere. Some sections will maintain their old look for now, but we were so excited about the new pages that we wanted to share them with you as we continue to work on the rest of the site. As always, StreetEasy is here to bring you the best real estate search available, and we're confident the new site will do this.

before all the information about sales, listings, incotracts was available with 1 click. took 1 sec.
same information takes more than 1 click and 5 minutes to see all the info. Please change and we will pretend this never happened. fire whoever gave the go ahead to these changes. waste of everybody's time.

Bring back the old streeteasy. This new site beyond sucks. This change completely destroyed the very thing that made streeteasy standout from the rest. To reiterate, the design is simply awful and completely shredded features that made streeteasy so much better than naked, zillow, or any others out there. Echoing others I will be canceling my subscription as well. Why did you get rid of the ability to see all listings in my search on the map side by side with the list? That see all feature was great the way it was before. I don't search by the individual listings themselves first, I search by the map, but I like to see both on the same page. Property history, building history so much harder to sort through. Site is painfully slow. Generating reports from the listing page...I mean I could go on on and on. I'm just shocked at how quickly this site could have destroyed all of the things that made it unique. Yes you're data is valuable which is why Zillow wanted you probably in the first place - but you're design was 10000000000000000% better as well. Zillow sucks. Zillow should have bought Streeteasy for it's IP so it could have essentially just become a bigger version of streeteasy.

Ok found the generate report button from the listing page, but just goes to show you how poor the design is that its buried on the page. And when you do go to the generate report page its still got the old streeteasy look and for a second all is good until you go back to the listings. I mean seriously I realize that this also about optimizing for mobile but fine leave this for mobile users at least give desktop users the opportunity to go to the old one.

@falcogold1 Go to a building page and then click on the 'Past Activity' tab: http://streeteasy.com/nyc/building/the-pierre#tab_building_detail=2

I'm giving them till the weekend to restore the site before I cancel my membership. Perhaps we should all cancel at once on Friday just to give them something to think about.

It's been a wrench, but some odds and ends I always use that were gone yesterday reappeared today.

E.g., being able to export listings, and being able to filter recorded sales by recorded date. Still no sorting in some places that need it, but let's hope.

Fortunately all the data is still there, and they just need to tweek the design to include the functions not a lot of people used but were good to have. And maybe stuff I'm missing is there but requires some scanning to find.

Why am I not getting daily emails now for my saved searches for the past week plus+ at consist times anymore. Sometimes it's very late afternoon sometimes it's around noon. I used to get them every morning around 8am. Also why did my previous comments not go through?

Can anyone reco what site to use now that streeteasy is ruined? And...the management at Streeteasy should be embarrassed. I wonder how long it will be before they remove the Comments section for damage control.

I am finding things ok...and it is more modern looking...but the loss of proper function and losing IMPORTANT aspects...yeah...this is a complete joke now...like zillow is in the city for sales. Misery loves company...now zillow has it. My favorite word now describes this website unfortunately...
meretricious...false and shiny like a relationship with a prostitute...tawdry...ha! Guess I won't upgrade to the 75 a month until sorting and google maps come back.
