All the undersigned are petitioning Streeteasy/Zillow to return search and map functionality back to Streeteasy.com. We realize that you may want to make site update for your brand etc. and that we might not all agree with some of them, but that we can agree that taking aware search sorting, the ability to look select neighborhoods via the city map, and the ability to quickly and clearly search recent sales and rentals was the prime reason real estate professionals, property owners, and potential buyers and renters all used this site as their one stop shop. Without these features this site becomes more or less useless. Please return some search functionality back to this site!
I agree wholeheartedly; The new version is a disaster. I have been trying to work; it is less efficient, less intuitive, and cumbersome. Bring the old version back.....
Will leave next billing cycle if the original version is not back
agree!
Remove unlimited scrolling.

Agreed. What garbage.
It can't come soon enough.
Zillow, Please heed your audience, readers and participants! If this new format continues, I also will be visiting it less frequently or not at all! I have already cancelled my insider's subscription in protest! Will gladly buy the subscription once the old format in its essence returns!
Old Streeteasy will be restored by the Republicans when the demands are met.
Amen. New Streeteasy is the new New Coke and deserves the same fate in the same timely manner
I must agree! The point was to make it easier to navigate and research properties. I don't' think it was a success. I know that it is not likely after money has been spent. This was my favorite realty site to navigate. That has changed It's a very sterile site and kind of lacks sense like zillow and its navigation style, posting etc.
please revert back to old style
agreed
Agree! Having lost the ability to search recorded sales by custom dates, etc really makes me question if I will continue to pay for "insider" access if past functionality is not restored!
Please bring back old streeteasy
agreed -- the new format sucks and feels like suburban maryland.
ooh, suburban Maryland. Say no more
Agreed. New format = New Coke = terrible.
Yep. The last six words you ever want to hear are "in order to serve you better.....".
Agreed. Hope the Zillow brain trust don't intend to soon start charging us more for their "improved" product.
Also Agree. Please bring back old site - much easier to navigate. Insider membership not worth it for this.
The custom boundary map and neighborhood boundaries are features we know you love and we are not getting rid of them. We are working on making them better and bringing them back as soon as we can. Thank you so much for your patience.
The new StreetEasy is useless. I used StreetEasy everyday, all day...now I just log in to see if the Zillow/StreetEasy gods have come to their senses. They have not.
Zillow has managed to bring a useless suburban bent to a previously great NY real estate website.
Can't track a property's progress now, which was a very useful SE feature.
Please ,just revert to the original SE!!!!
agreed
The new site blows... That is all.
Bigdaddyj, you are still able to search recorded sales by custom dates. You can search by custom closed date and by custom recorded sale date. Please take another look at that search. Thanks!
StreetEasy - per your last post, the recorded sales data is still retrievable. However I just did a search and, unless I'm missing something, there is option to export it?! I REALLY need to be able to do this (almost daily) for work. Please advise.
amen
Ditto - site blows, but I have a strange suspicion team Zillow are laughing their a$$e$ off because "everything is going according to plan".... (insert evil laugh) Muahahahahahaha!!!
This site sucks! What happened?
AkerlyRE, I'd have sworn a blue Export button was there yesterday. Now it's gone.
You can cheat, though, by constructing your own URL. E.g. http://streeteasy.com/nyc/process/closings/xls/type:P1%7Carea:100
You'll need to use the listing-export process to get the parameter names and values you'll need. E.g., type:P1 is co-ops and area:100 is Manhattan.
Bring back the old, PLEASE
This new system is turning out to be a disaster. I have real work to do and it literally can't get done on this platform now. In it's current condition, I have little use for the site. Something much closer to the old version (at least in terms of utility) needs to be brought back ASAP. I'm literally turning to every other resource I have (namely PropertyShark and my firm's internal databases) to find new ways to get the tasks I used to do on StreetEasy done. If I and other subscribers are successful in that, StreetEasy loses out big time even if they eventually correct the current problems.
Bring back the functional site, go back to work on the redesign taking into account the hundreds of comments that have been left on these boards, and relaunch when it's really ready for primetime.
agree agree aggree!!! I can't get this to work. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD SITE OR MAKE SURE THIS IS WORKING BEFORE YOU SUBJECT US TO THIS.
I want a refund until it works again
SE, you've responded to a number of small concerns. What about listing history? I haven't even tried to use it in any depth yet, I'll try next week and decide whether you've totally bastardized your site, and its original laudable goal of "transparency."
Doesn't Noah have all this info too, although not necessarily access to the broker listings? Hmm. It sounds as though many brokers aren't happy with this change, although I don't know how much the big guns hate it. But it seems odd to be so against transparency in a market with so much upward momentum.
I just cancelled my insider subscription. You're never going to see the same website again. It's almost as if Zillow bought StreetEasy to eliminate the competition. Zillow has to be dictating what's happening because the designers of StreetEasy knew what they were doing. I can't imagine that, with their skill set, they would willingly redesign the web site in this format. Shame on them if they did. It gives no more information than the NY Times Real Estate right now in a cumbersome, space wasting screen format.
the search by custom maintenance doesn't work, i entered a custom number and it keeps searching 0, in for reverting / rolling back!
also give option to save search feature in a cookie or something so i dont have to keep using advance features to enter what i need, ie i like the list style more than the default style, ie settings like those
I'm voting with my wallet and cancelling my subscription.
/signed
I am voting with my wallet also and cancelling my subscription when it ends at the end of this month
Agreed.
Here's a good stat on usability 80% of the time users spend ABOVE the fold! then why is everything BELOW the fold? (http://econsultancy.com/us/blog/5630-web-users-spend-80-of-time-above-the-fold-nielsen) Also why does it take several clicks to view things like historical pricing data??
Just change it back already please. There is not a single new noticeable feature with these changes... the only change was moving stuff around and adding additional clicks and scrolls yay brilliant Zillow!
Agreed. Bring back the old one.
agree
Agreed,
complete nonsense !
Working model was killed, to accomplish what?
Test your system before offering it, but in a mean time install the old one.
Where is the option of "new listings within the last 7, 14, 30 days", etc.?
Where is maintenance and taxes info, below price on each listing?
I usually never complain about change, but the site sucks now. Yes, the old design was web 1.0, but it worked so well and was so efficient. I have been a subscriber for 2 years and will be cancelling.
Agreed
Where is sales/listing history? Replaced by "reduced by $xxx"? Totally useless, unlike the original tracking feature.
agreed
Why must every stupid site make usage harder for visitors all in the effort of looking sleeker/simpler/minimalist.
Google just got rid of it's navigation links for News, Finance, etc at the top and moved it to a drop down menu that looks like app icons. Apple does this, Microsoft does this etc...
Now Streeteasy? Sorry, you have TOO MUCH CONTENT to go with minimalist design. I hate the extra scrolling and the fact that certain info is not in my face so I can navigate and move on to the next listing quickly.
Go back to the old design, change a font or two. Helvetica is nice. Enlarge the picture icons a bit if you'd like. But get rid of this hideous site design with your ugly/outdated Georgia italic font and shades of grey on white color scheme. Seriously, its atrocious.
it's no longer about cancelling....it should be about asking for refunds...at this point, i am not receiving all of the claimed functionality that insiders receive and that SE (no zillow) advertises they will provide.

The new system is useless. Please return to the original which is what made Streeteasy great.
I have an opinion about this: it is possible that they actually want to increase the time that each of us has to stay on the website in order to get the same information. This way they will be able to tell that the new website has increase the average time x% for each session and ask more for adversting. Just an idea.
Yes, I liked the old system so much better. This is so much more confusing and lacking much of the information why I originally used the site...sales, listing history, ability to search neighborhoods, get comparables. No need for an insider subscription any longer.
Well, a company is sold, the new genius crew says "everything will remain the same except some things will get better." Following the usual pattern of what actually happens, the new hot shots have gutted this web site, leaching out any purpose to pay a monthly fee for information available anywhere.
Adios, amigos.
I don't see any enhanced utility or visual improvement to the new site design. Has Zillow explained anywhere how it believes the changes enhance use of the site? It also looks stultifyingly pedestrian--like the cabinet section at a Home Depot. A major benefit of the traditional design was the amount of information that could be viewed on a single screen without scrolling and with a minimal number of clicks. The new looks is so--suburban (and I mean that in the worst way).
I agree with all the others here. particularly the map function.
how do i search for buildings available for sale? Need to see available buildings not just units. The site was a lot easier to understand before. While I understand Zillow wanting to improve the look and feel of the site, this transition obviously was not well thought through. It would be great if Zillow treated us as well as Yahoo treats us and allows us to choose the old format or the new format. thank you.
This sucks!

“The utility of StreetEasy is so high we forget how dated the site had become,” said Jason Haber, CEO of Rubicon Property, who said the old site design was reminiscent of the 1990s Internet, when AOL was the ubiquitous brand. “I’m sure there will be grousing from some who long for the old layout, but the time had come for a revamp. Now they have great data and a great site.”
Wow, why to f this up.
Did a hipster doofus code this BS?
Worst. Design. Ever.
BYE!
We are actually pretty nice people who do listen. We still have many kinks to work out, especially with IE, and certainly want to make sure that all of the info from the old site is accessible. We absolutely understand that some people are having trouble, and that's the last thing we want. And yes, of course we want feedback, so keep it coming.
We've had many months to work with the new design, we use the site every day, and we like it. We hope you will too.
So by popular demand ;-)

@streeteasy, you are missing the point, you might like the new site but your users DON'T. You can have a website that YOU only use or you can give us the old site back for good so you can keep having users/paying subscribers and continue on the successful path you were on before zillow bought you. Personally I did not use this site for the fonts, colors, design, I used this site for the straight forward information that it provided with minimum effort on my part. It makes not since why you would take information that was available on one page and break it up to 3-4 pages. I can go on and on about this change and everything that is wrong with it but I will stop here. I am also signing the petition and not for a temporary return but for a lasting one.
so show the property's listing history and past sales on the property's page as in the old streeteasy!!! extremely important information for anyone looking to buy!!!
I am just a lurker here and rarely post, but I have to say that the old streeteasy was one of the most user friendly, intuitive sites of the all the ones I visit. It was possible to find a great deal of info quickly and efficiently without many steps. I even used the site as a model when a company I work with was building its site. Can you share the reason for the redesign?
The new design is very cheesy looking. So much so that when I first got the pages I thought streeteasy was being hijacked by some crap copycat framing their information. It is very pedestrian looking. Not nearly as robust and I think that zillow people do not realize how much mire high end the streeteasy customer is. It feels like an 8 year step back in time. Why fix what wasn't broken. Bring the old site back and try to build on top of that. Did you get rid of the streeteasy staff? Otherwise what will happen is that someone will come along and just make another site that does what se started out doing right.
Agree. The redesign is not good. At all. The old site was great - why tamper with a good thing?
this new site sucks fetid donkey dick. am canceling subscription at months end. it's been fun, folks, but it ain't no more....
so matsonjones, you are going to let Brooks2 win?
Pretty to look at, though less functional. Streeteasy, you have some of the most sophisticated end users anywhere- pretty yet less functional is not the way to go.
I know there are several threads on the topic of the rebranding of the site, but I don't have time to read all of them- is there anyone that prefers the new site?
I tried to stick with the new format, but good lord... it's just awful. The revamped Open House Planner is mind-numbing. And the presentation of recorded sales? Ugh.
I'm among the few Streeteasy regulars who have also used Buyfolio extensively. I have a lot of respect for Matt Daimler (haven't met Susan), and I sort of understand what they were trying to do. They are smart folks. I would bet v.2 will be a lot better, and I hope the lynch mob will give them a chance.
W81, everyone: Why the heck are you giving them feedback for free? Unless of course, you are not.
I am so done with that. There is a probably a clever Latin saying that summarizes my sentiment - they paid big $ for the site, they have a biz model that works (?) for the rest of their business but if they screw up the NYC portal then let they pay for it. Someone nimbler, better will jump into the void.
I'm not so sanguine that someone else will take on promoting transparency in this market. I doubt the major revenue generator is subscription-based, there are a lot of new developments that may be willing to pay more for advertising now that SE is no longer fledgling.
If the feedback works, why not? If it doesn't work, why not? I would hardly place much monetary value on writing a two or three paragraph screed. And TRD picked it up. Yes, they should have had a team testing the new format, including the evil IE, which is still very present, and they didn't. But this is one of the few times the SE community has cohesively and objectively responded to SE. I see value in that.
I too hope the lynch mob will give them a chance. I still remember my 1999 search, dial up, I could get a cup of coffee or go to the bathroom by the time a set of pictures came up, zero comps info. But they need to do better, because NY real estate isn't what it was in the 90's, we now have ACRIS access, and not all purchasers are foreigners.
Having said all that, I'm not particularly hopeful. But I will be happy if I'm proven wrong.
Aboutready, I think you should be happy

Here is zillow president blathering on about how zillow is a media company. Does not care about being useful, functional or transparent.
http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?play=1&video=3000203385
last thing Streeteasy needs is more blathering.
i can barely find what i need anymore. usually when you push a new look to an already efficient site, you would have it in BETA, duh! you would put a big icon on every search start page that says "try our BETA site update". this gives users a period of TIME to try out the new look and feel, and give FEEDBACK on how it OPERATES. Parker1205 has it right! probably some hipster/yuppie/yunnie pulled this off.
Please this is exactly correct
I would even pay for it the way it was !
