Does anyone have any insight about the credibility of this website, or how to read it? You can look up buildings on here and see long lists of complaints such as in this entry: http://apartable.com/buildings/58-west-105-street-manhattan I happen to know that building (linked above) has huge reserves so it surprises me to see such a long list of unresolved issues. The building that I went on here to get information for (*not* linked here) has a bunch of "closed" issues in addition to a longer list of open ones. None of the complaints seem to appear on Bisweb, but it also looks like the two sites offer very different orders of information/records. I haven't seen, for instance, any vermin reports on Bisweb at all. Maybe the building information site just doesn't report vermin in general? I'm concerned because in the building I'm doing research on, there are reports of mice and roaches in units that are quite close to mine. I was informed already by the board that the building has exterminators come every month, and a tenant there told me it hasn't been a problem for her. But I'm wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on any of this? Thanks! [less]
It's machine-trolling the DoB site, but getting the violation-statuses wrong.
E.g., it shows my building with 24 open violations, while the DoB shows three open.
Check the building at http://www.nyc.gov/html/dob/html/home/home.shtml instead.
There're some tenants who'll call 311 when the landlord doesn't hop to some minor repair fast enough. That's the tenant's right, but it does tend to make most buildings look in worse shape than they are.
