Discussion about
So they have built this new beautiful rink at McCarren Park. But they have no time set aside to play hockey. This is beyond baffling to me and represents a tremendous injustice. I would be grateful if anyone could provide me the contact information of the individual I should submit my petition to.

come on, you think Ottawanyc doesn't know 311? He's just playing Canadian.

Hockey is a game played in pasture, by chunky-legged budding lesbians. It's cruel of you to suggest that they play on ice ... they'd slide around and fall down all the time, and probably lose some teeth doing so. Plus the hummus would get all over the ice.

alan, i beg to differ. you have maligned the sanctity of the game but one can forgive as you probably have never had the "hockey night in canada" experience to truly appreciate hockey for what it is. ex don cherry....

No action yet. Maybe when they are finished turing Yankee Stadium into a rick and speaking of the joys of pond hockey they will clue in. Why would you build a rink so you can skate in circles? What is fun about circles?

The city cares, but alas they still don't grasp why ice is laid.

Dear OttawaNYC,

Thank you for your email of November 25 and for sharing your feedback on the newly opened McCarren Ice Rink.

Unfortunately, the rink currently in place was not designed to accommodate hockey. However, Parks and the concessionaire, Open Space Alliance, are evaluating the rink usage and the demand over this inaugural season, and will consider incorporating hockey activity in future seasons.

Please let me know if you have any further questions and thank you again for getting in touch.

Well HB you certainly seem like the right individual to judge the relative importance of threads. Still good to see that most of the posts on here belong to you. Now try a bit harder to not be a douche.

FC - Why are you picking on Ottawa?
Ottawa - Rumor has it that the ice rinks in DC come alive with adults playing hockey between the hours of 10pm and 1am. A similar phenomenon must occur somewhere in New York?

Well, for one, he accused me of being C0C0, and that's a very low blow.

Oh, that is a low blow. I didn't see that; I have only read comments where he appreciated your contributions.

NYCNovice, they have adult hockey at night at Lasker Rink. I don't know anything else about it. Check their website http://www.laskerrink.com/

But even that. Canada is like one tenth the size of the U.S., which means a greater likelihood for inbreeding and all of the issues that come along with that. So while I applaud Ottawanyc for leaving Canada for the U.S. to mitigate this issue, that's something the next generation will be the beneficiary of, unfortunately it can't help him, and therefore you and I both know that for the positive comments towards me, we can't put much behind it. For his comments to have credibility, they have to be based on pretty extreme obviousness, such as w67 says one thing, then he says the exact opposite, so therefore he's full of it.

NYCNovice isn't interested in a hockey rink. She's from DC. She prefers ridiculous humidity to the cold.
