Best public schools on the UES?

People say its PS6 as a strong contender.

you should check out insideschools.org for info on all nyc schools in the neighborhood, you can also ask on urbanbaby.com or youbemom.com but they are snakepits. there is no "one" best school, there are many great ones up here. my kids go to PS 183 and we love it, great after school programs. PS 158 on York is well regarded, PS 6 of course, there's a newer one in the 60s - PS 267 which only goes through 3rd grade currently...bottom line, i would get a working list together of options and then look for apartments in that zone. also check the DOE website for the zoned addresses, schools listed on Street Easy are sometimes wrong.
