I live in a large building (26 floors, approx 340 tenants) and we have two elevators. One elevator has been out of service off and on for over two weeks, almost every day. Our building schedules move-ins for four hour blocks at a time, during which the person moving in gets exclusive use of one elevator, which at this point is all we have. In order to "accommodate" the rest of the 338 of us, the management has proposed that we contact the doorman (there is only one on duty during the day) to "escort" us up or down to our desired location. In the morning during rush hour, that has taken anywhere from 20 minutes to 45 minutes, and some people have had to walk up or down 26 flights of stairs. In buildings like these we pay a premium for services such as elevator, doorman, etc. If one elevator is completely out of service, and the other is only available every 45 minutes (this sounds like a math problem) is it feasible to ask for some sort of rent abatement? They are trying to fix the issue, apparently. Thoughts? [less]
