Discussion about
Hi, we just purchased a pre-war large one bedroom on UES. Got our beautiful oak wood floor refinished. And now skim coating/painting our walls. New crown moldings were also put in. We need to now look for a vendor who can remove kitchen countertop, re-do the backsplash and replace kitchen floors... It seems that many of the general contractors in NYC are too busy with large projects and will not even look at these small jobs OR throw out a ridiculously big number since this is opportunity cost for them to do a large bathroom / kitchen reno. I am not sure if the above-mentioned job can be done by a handyman but if anyone has a good lead, I appreciate it!!! Thank you!!!

Why don't you just go to the places that sell flooring and countertops and have them do the installation? When I was looking for tile and countertops in lower Manhattan, several store offered those services. I didn't use them because I had a general contractor working on a gut renovation of the kitchen already. Installation was included in the price.

kelee: You sound like an absolute bimbo moron. Why don't you call the contractors and giggle and tell blonde jokes.. Gag me with a spoon.

I agree, ask the super and neighbors or any contractor who is currently working in the building.
Riccardo, I don't get your post, her question seemed very reasonable to me even of it's been discussed before. Also I don't know how you can tell if it was a man or woman posting.

Sorry for the rudeness. Just sounded like a really stupid question. If she/he has gone this far with renovations, the question he/she asked would likely already have been answered by even the most sophomoric person. Sounded like she wanted us all to be impressed that she had bought a prewar one-bedroom on the UES. Only a woman would sound so stupid. As I sexist? Yes.....................

I don't think Kelee sounds like an absolute bimbo moron, but we can all agree that she should have those crown moldings removed ASAP. Crown moldings have no place whatsoever in NY prewar apartments. In suburban "custom" "luxury" tract-houses, yes.

Ricardo, that doesn't sound sexist so much as insecure and Why read into her post about bragging etc. good for her, she owns an apt and should boast about it. No need to be a hater even of she wrote a post that had been discussed many times before.

Doesn't sound like bragging at all - it sounds like someone who is excited about home ownership and home improvement. Riccardo has lovingly described his apartment in San Francisco many times before, and I doubt anyone would mistake his pride for his home for bragging.
