building at 434 EAST 66 STREET

(Discussing building at 434 EAST 66 STREET) Great neighborhood but the building is old. When I use the microwave, it blows the circuit. Air conditioning blows the circuit. Vacuum blows the circuit. (Discussing building at 434 EAST 66 STREET) Great neighborhood but the building is old. When I use the microwave, it blows the circuit. Air conditioning blows the circuit. Vacuum blows the circuit. Landlord hasn't put in locks on any windows since we've been here (1 year). There is a hole in the ceiling due to a leak that the landlord hasn't fixed in 3 months. The stove was eminating carbon monoxide and ConEdison had to come turn off the gas. It took from Oct 9 to Oct 31 for the landlord to replace during which time I was in constant contact w/ him to replace it. He said he woulnd't fix it unless we agreed to a rent increase in the next year's rent. It is rent stabalized. He threatened not to renew lease if we didn't agree to price increase. HE claims never to have heard of carbon monoxide and said that he didn't care that we could have died. All in all a negative experience w/ the building and the landlord, but a positive experience in the neighborhood. [less]
