Discussion about The Brewster at 21 West 86th Street in Upper West Side

Pretty bad electrical fire here earlier this week. No building-wide alarm went off, no alert to residents (even though the fire happened at 1 in the morning). The smoke smell continues to pervade the halls and some apartments. Some stairwells were not lit during evacuation of the building and my unit has no fire escape.

Sorry that happened. Sounds like there may be some safety violations in the building and I hope DOB/FDNY are investigating and will fine landlord! I hope all people and pets are okay.

Don't expect much from FDNY/DOB. The building I used used to live in had outstanding violations for decades and neither one would take any action.

This building is run by clipper equity and is a HORRIBLE place to live. Read the other reviews on street easy about life at their Murray street building. Don’t expect any help from management, they live to make life difficult for ANYONE who stands up for their rights.
