Discussion about
I live in a rent stabilized apartment and wondered if anyone negotiated with their landlord to get paid to move? If so, what would be an acceptable amount? Right now I am paying about $1,200 in the West Village and my landlord would love to renovate and turn my apartment into a 2 bedroom and charge probably about $5,000, at least. Any ideas?

Why not stay? You won't find anything cheaper.

I'd only leave if the market goes way down in Manhattan (snicker!) or I can get a great deal in Brooklyn. I am thinking of having a family and it's too small for kid but we can manage for a while that's for sure.
