Discussion about
Was just thinking about this as I looked at a 3br apartment online. Each bedroom had an ensuite bath but there were no other bathrooms in the apartment, and it did not look like there was a way to make one of the bathrooms accessible from another room. Thoughts?

I agree that's odd. Was it a combined apartment? Was one of the BRs originally a Dining room/library/etc.?

77 Park Avenue #12E-- http://streeteasy.com/building/the-griffon/12e
Don't think it was a combo, but one bedroom is quite near the entryway which makes me think it was originally the living or dining room.

All three baths were originally en-suite. There was also one of those toilet -onlys off the kitchen, so the help wouldn't have to go through a bedroom. Original plan is at https://hdl.handle.net/2027/mdp.39015012245042?urlappend=%3Bseq=83

My only complaint about apts with only ensuite baths is that guests have to go through a 'private' space to get to the facilities, which means you have to keep that room neat, in addition to the bathroom. For a 1-BR, it would be a dealbreaker for me, for a 2BR it might not, depending on what the 2nd BR was used for: small kid: yes; guest br: maybe not.

I personally find it awkward to have guests go through a bedroom to access the wash room, but to each is own!

The biggest issue with ensuite bathrooms is if one ever has guests sleeping on a sofa bed; especially in a one bedroom. Then you have traffic through your bedroom in the middle of the night

Nothing in NYC is 'convenient', but this sort of setup is extra challenging. Then again, this arrangement is probably more attractive from a pricing standpoint than an apartment with a more traditional layout.

Are you kidding me? On the one hand, you have guests sleeping on a sofa bed - people who can't afford a hotel room. On the other hand, having a bathroom in your bedroom is too low brow for you!
