Discussion about 130 East 12th Street in East Village
I'd rather not: Critter infestations, smells, late night delivery truck noise, lots of trash removal.
On the other hand: easy to get the groceries home.
I live in another EV building above an excellent food market and consider it an amenity. But it depends on how well-maintained the grocery is, and whether your bedroom is above where the delivery trucks stop.
Wrong building. The market is in 138 East 12th
I lived over a D'Agostino on 56th and 1st for 12 years. Occasional smells, very few pests and very convenient in bad weather. I was always more worried about a fire in the grocery store than pests, but that was never an issue either.
Someone said the market is in another building, but that seems to be incorrect. I'm looking at Google maps and they're both the same building--at the southeast corner of 12th Street and 3rd Ave.
Not the same building. 130 east 12th street is not on the corner of third avenue. This building, 138 east 12th street, is, under which you can clearly see the market. https://streeteasy.com/building/the-nathaniel
nyc_sport is correct: the Google maps street view shows the 3rd Ave view of The Nathaniel, a rental at 138 East 12th St.
130 East 12th St is the 2 per floor "loft" condo next door.
