What do the bears on this board think of this sale? I would not have thought the price would be more than $25mm-28mm.

Buying a $37 million townhouse is not an economic decision. I guess it shows that there are still a lot of rich people who think NYC is still pretty cool so good for the overall market.

I think prime Village is not necessarily an indication of the market in less established areas. There is very little supply. That said, it shows that people are willing to pay up a lot for the right property.

That is the building. The sale is not recorded yet. So who knows whether it traded at $37mm or $30mm. Either way, it is a high price.

It is arguably the best block in GV. I lived around the block on 9th Street for 20 years. How Many 10,000 SF townhouses exist in GV? Between these 2 factors this is at the top end of GV townhouses. Note that another more expensive house on the same block (the one which set the record in 2007) just got pulled off the market after not selling (511 days on market).
