Cockroaches

This place is infested with cockroaches. We have lived in the building for a little over year and have had at least 4 per month. Every time we complain to the building's management, they offer to send an exterminator who "patches up some holes" and hasn't made an impact. It is really unpleasant to come home to several dead cockroaches after a long weekend away. Last night my husband and I were cooking in our kitchen and a cockroach scurried across his foot-- absolutely disgusting.

That's quite disgusting, also quite a damaging comment ...

Just curious, does StreetEasy ever encounter lawsuits for the various slander that goes on here?

How do you know it's slander? Why do you assume that claims such as these are false? I question your motivation - very fishy.

LuxBro--I believe you mean libel. Slander is spoken. Libel is written. Please get it right if you're going to continue trolling these posts. Thanks.

To the original poster, if the kitchen cabinets are old and have to holes for roaches in them, the owner needs to replace the cabinets. Patching visible holes is not fully effective. You should highlight to the management that the exterminator visits have not been effective and DEMAND that they do more if the exterminator has made a few visits already.

It is also important that there are no dirty dishes and the kitchen floor/counters are cleaned after cooking every time

If you have a pet they have food and water. If you're going away for a weekend it's the perfect opportunity to blast them with chemicals etc. I'm assuming you're stabilized or you would move(?).

Don't freak out if there's a cockroach lying face up on floor. Means it's probably been gassed.

Is it true that the suggested treatment is different for American vs. German cockroaches?

I've read that if you see a cockroach during the day, it's either delirious and has been poisoned. Or the population is spiraling out of control.

There is no reason for this disgusting situation. Management should fix it. This is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Manhattan.
