I leased an apartment at a nearby building through this agent several years ago. There were no issues with at that building, the super was lovely, I renewed my lease multiple times until I was relocated abroad from 2016-2018. Upon returning to NYC, I ended up leasing a unit at 680 through Rotner because nothing was available at the other building. Given the experience at the previous building owned by the same company, I assumed 680 would be comparable. Since moving into 680 over 7 months ago there have been nothing but issues with not just my apartment but all apartments in my line, as well as others. The super, Steve, as well as his twin brother who frequently “covers” for him, are lazy and deliberately negligible in the building’s upkeep. The particular issues in my line were, and still are, constant water leaks. The water issues must have been present for quite some time because the extent of TOXIC presence precedes my residency here. The building was negligible in addressing the mold. Steve and his brother tried multiple times to have unqualified people cover it up with plaster and paint, while insisting nothing was wrong DESPITE receiving multiple violations and independent mold testing confirming the mold. Tenants in at least two units, myself included, are suffering from significant medical issues as a result of exposure to the mold. After over 6 months, they finally remediated limited portions, although in only two of the 5 infected units of the mold but not all. Due to the bullying and hostile nature of Rotner and Steve, other tenants who also are experiencing health issues associated with mold are afraid to speak up. This agent is aware of the issues. [less]
