We went to a house at 80 McClean Ave on staten Island . That is a 3-storey house and in each level, there is 1 full bathroom and 1 kitchen. We observed that there a violation on the house and the agent said the violation would be cleared before closing. After that, the price was confirmed and we signed the contract and the closing date was in mid January. At the date of closing, we ask for the progress of clearing the violation and then the agent told us that only a small pipe would be removed and the house will be able to be closed soon. And till mid March, the seller has not even successfully submitted the plan to the DOB for clearing violation and at this moment, they told us that it is required to remove one of the kitchen and bathroom from the house to clear the violation. Of course, we rejected the proposal as they only willing to reduce the price by 20k. It waste lots of our time and money on the house. [less]
So you did close or not? If not... don't.
