Discussion about
Without getting into the politics of it all, have any of your buildings communicated the cost of making your building compliant. Clearly this will mean substantial future assessments, which in turn could hurt future pricing upon resale https://www1.nyc.gov/office-of-the-mayor/news/246-19/mayor-de-blasio-puts-trump-org-notice-cut-greenhouse-emissions-face-big-penalties#/0

My building has already done quite a bit of this so my concern is recent improvements won't count toward the goal.

Still reading up on it. but I don't think its based on where you are, but where the city thinks you should be. If you are ahead of your piers you have less work to do

This could push buildings to go 100% electric and not rely on either oil. The grid would not be able to handle that

Aside from 40 Wall St, which one of these does Trump actually own the building? These are the same people who announced they were going to "ban glass skyscrapers" and then said "well, not really."

Do the fines go in 2030? That is many mayors away.

It's also interesting how they are going after building owners but as far as I can tell relatively leaving alone ConEd who's got some fairly non-environ mentally friendly practices. It's one of the reasons I sometimes scoff when people try to talk about electric cars, buses, etc being "clean." If the electricity is being produced by burning fossil fuels then it is neither "clean" nor "sustainable" and more than those fossil fuels are - there's just a middle man. Just like when we sent our "recycling" to be buried in Chinese landfills.

De Blasio exempted city owned buildings and buildings with rent controlled tenants. I'm speculating these are some of the oldest buildings in the city. We're lucky if they're not heating with coal furnaces. Ok rant done.

But seriously , other than converting to natural gas heat, using LED light bulbs and putting in energy conserving windows I don't see what they are expecting. And most buildings have done these things. This could though push some buildings to using co-gen, and some buildings have but I doubt the ROI is that great.
