Discussion about
Has anyone noticed that streeteasy's "activity for this building" price updates sometimes disappear, or perhaps, are "corrected"? And if you have, would you say it's on properties with "big money" developers (or maybe just professional and internet-savvy brokers)? Has anyone seen any claims from streeteasy.com as to the historical accuracy of their data?
One thing I've noticed: listings get removed and then re-added, and the price history disappears. In the case of 218 N 8th St. #2A, I believe this concealed a price cut from $499K to $479K.

218 N 8th isn't a great example, the building just recently switched brokers. The old broker didn't have unit numbers, so the listings don't match up.
An apartment that I was following recently disappeared from the site. There are definitely times when streeteasy is able to accurately note apartments that have been taken off the market - which is what I assume happened to the unit I was watching - but apparently not all of the time.
One of the central principles of StreetEasy is that we show all the information as transparently and as accurately as we possibly can. We never knowingly hide or correct any information that we do not believe to be legitimately invalid!
As anonilicious says sometimes we are unable to match listings to previous listings, so we cannot connect the history for the listings. We do the best we can with the data available, but you should at least be able to find all the previous listings in the building history.
If a listing disappears from the site that you believe should still be active, let us know via feedback. We very rarely remove listings from the site, and only then if we believe the listing to be inaccurate, or if the listing is a duplicate.
Definitely let us know via feedback (link at the bottom of the page) of issues that you find. We are always looking to make the information on the site as accurate as possible.
I've found incorrect streeteasy comps numerous times. You'd think they would cross check every comp against ACRIS, but apparently they don't. Overall its a great great resource but they should vet out every comp they have on this site.
