These discussion forums have become a joke in my opinion. Like many others who use Streeteasy, I am in the market for a condo or co-op and came to these forums to try to get some valuable insights into the market. I have even tried to contribute some of my own ideas. But it soon became apparent that Eddie Wilson, Stevejxh and their gang of sad bears have overtaken this forum with their propagandizing. Normally, I would just dismiss this forum as useless, like many on-line forums, and simply stop using it (which will happen after this post). But then I read Eddie Wilson's posts on the "Toren" thread and that pissed me off so I had to throw out this last missive. Some of the people posting on the Toren thread are people who have already bought there and are simply exchanging information about construction progress, etc. But Eddie Wilson insists on butting into the conversation and, in a juvenile manner, pointing out what he believes to be the flaws of the development. If you have an opinion, Eddie, why don't you make your point and move on? At least SteveJHX is mature about expressing his opinions. Why must you ridicule people who have knowingly taken a risk by buying into a new development during a bearish market? Do you really think they don't know the value of their apartment might go down? Don't you think it is natural for someone who has already bought into a development to defend it? I do. What I don't understand is why you insist on being such an ass. [less]
I have to call a ROYAL bs on you. My comments on the thread in question were in response to Junkman spamming this thread, and previous threads on curbed with, well, you hit the word... propaganda. If you don't care, then don't respond...
> Don't you think it is natural for someone who has already bought into
> a development to defend it? I do.
Just as its natural for folks who bet the other way to do the same...
If you want to call out folks for an agenda, fine, but don't be a hypocrite.
BTW, check out the Toren thread when you get a chance... Junkman literally did something like 24 posts in a row of irrelevant info when folks were trying to have a discussion.
If its ok to post nonsense to "defend" somewhere you bought, then don't for a second complain when folks point out what is BS...
haterhater, I chuckled reading your thread title, and though I'd rather not engage in this kind of discussion too much, I'd say your best bet is to ignore the guy. It was only a matter of time before we got a full-fledged troll on this board migrating over from Curbed. Steve, though sometimes abrasive, is not really in the same category, especially since he posts useful info/commentary. Ignore the troll and he'll eventually grow tired and move on.
EddieWilson, are you a broker with a competing development to Toren?
The ignore this person thread is a nice feature of this board.
No, I think the entire area is in glut more, and in major trouble. Forte down the block did a huge round of 20%+ price cuts.
Also amusing that BJW is calling others a troll, when the guy has made likely hundreds of posts arguing about neighborhoods (or decades) he hasn't been to. Hell keep responding, though.
Always the biggest complainers who are the biggest hypocrites...
Eddie, have you not picked up on the trend here - everyone thinks you are a jackass who adds nothing to the boards.
> Eddie, have you not picked up on the trend here - everyone thinks you are a jackass who adds nothing

Wow, and if folks think you're even worse than me, you are REALLY on to something LIC! You still hold the record for nonsense posts in a row...
As I said, the biggest complainers are almost always the biggest hypocrites...
Eddie, I actually find some of your posts and your points interesting and helpful. However, I do think you'd dramatically improve your credibility if you toned down the volume of posts and stopped attacking people.
Newbuyer, I don't disagree... but you'll find that most of the attacks on this board start with frustrated bulls. I admit I shouldn't always respond. But, hey, thats a far cry from folks like LIC pretending they're innocent when all they do is post insults on the board.
Fine, I'll take heat for continuing threads I started when folks response.
But WOW is their hypocrisy coming from the bubble buyers.
Eddie rants and raves whenever I or someone else points out his mistakes and asinine attitude. It's quite humorous to see actually.
> But WOW is their hypocrisy coming from the bubble buyers.
Wow, I'm that guy.... I meant "there' obviously.
> LICComment: Eddie rants and raves whenever I or someone..
What did I tell you. It took, what, 30 seconds, and here is LICC with the usual pattern. The guy hasn't posted a fact in, well, actually, I don't remember one ever. And he's the first to insult or complain to others.
As I said, WOW, is there hypocrisy coming from LICC and the "defending their purchases" crew...
I'm really enjoying that "ignoring comment" feature:) With the rubbish blocked out, there really is a lot of usefull info to be gleaned.
That is definitely the right approach. Don't want to hear from me, ignore it, fine.
But post after post of insults and arguing, that just amounts to hypocrisy.
EddieWilson, is anyone not a hypocrite? Anyone, including you?
Sure, anyone ignoring what they don't want to read and moving on...
But, amongst the bitter bulls on the board, I have to admit that there are far and few in between...
"EddieWilson, is anyone not a hypocrite? Anyone, including you?"
He's actually the biggest hypocrite on the board...which is saying a lot.
EddieWilsonIsADouch, hey, I'm not entirely certain, what is your opinion of EddieWilson?
You know, I find many of you "bulls" to quit hypocritical. When I first came on the site, about a year ago, the market was doing well and sky was the limit. I would post by bearish comments and were meet with, all sorts of insults, about how crazy I was. There were easily 10 bulls for every 1 bear at that time. There were days, when my hands hurt, and I felt like a 90 year old arthritic man. Now that NYC's RE market is on the verge of major declines, you guys don't want to hear the truth. Instead, you cry about someone who is displaying his enthusiasm toward making the right call and saving money.
I'll try this one more time. Articles, how ever painful, about wallstreet's problems do effect NYC RE. If you can't see that I'm not surprised. Most of you guy/gals have made a conscience decision to wish the problem away. Your objectivity is non-existent and it prevents you from saving a ton of money or further increase your profit margin on a purchase. If you are tired of reading someones post just ignore it.
For the record I have not used the ignore button. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer....
Truth be told I have learned alot from many people on this site, buuls and bears.
your hands hurt? why did you keep posting? merely to warn, the British are coming, the British are coming, or something of similar urgency?
Well put, dco.
When the bulls ran out of actual logic/evidence, and it became clear that the bubble pop set in, a huge portion turned to posting only insults. The more mature ones just seem to have slipped away to focus on things outside RE. But what we're left with are folks who lost the facts game, and have nothing but anger and frustration turned into personal attacks.
But, I guess that tide change in itself shows just how much the market has turned...
> Most of you guy/gals have made a conscience decision to wish the problem away.
Wish, or insult it away... I guess there are folks who still think they can prop themselves up by trying to take others down with schoolyard comments.
"I guess there are folks who still think they can prop themselves up by trying to take others down with schoolyard comments."
Textbook example of the pot calling the kettle black.

ROTFL.
Coming from the guy named "EddieWilsonIsADouche" I think we just found the most self-unaware post of all time.
Well done!
And I love how ootin doesn't get how we're talking about him...
oh, maybe ootin should start a new discussion topic with an article he found on CNN or Bloomberg about something that everyone already knows and doesn't even mention real estate.
If one article on the market crisis could be posted without at least 10 bulls denying its truth, only then would you have an argument ootin....
But as long as there are bulls in denial trying to argue the point, you can't claim that "everyone already knows".
"Coming from the guy named "EddieWilsonIsADouche" I think we just found the most self-unaware post of all time."
Actually, I didn't think you had the brains to grasp the irony. Well done!
But you're still a douche.
I think we are all sick of ranting from anyone. How about some helpful discussion?
Sure.... why don't you start one?
Only a guy like Eddie Wilson can come onto these boards, be rude, disrespectful and insulting to everyone he disagrees with, and when people reply negatively back to him, complain that people insult him. This man desperately needs attention.
i read a post from a newbie a few weeks back. she was asking a serious question about i-forget-what, but it was just a lost person that was really seeking advice about a RE matter. what i remember her saying is: "i'm new here. i don't know if anyone can help me with this because this board really seems to be about discussions about whether the market is going up or down, but... can someone tell me [insert her question here]?"
i thought that was funny in a sad kind of way. it's a pity that the board isn't more useful. and it sheds light onto how "outsiders" view the site.
Ha Ha
who wouldn't be? Did you see today's fight with Eddie and Steve?
