Discussion about
There are so many apartments in this small building for sale. Is it because the new construction next to the building will box it?
Two big buildings are scheduled to build just south of the building. They will definitely block the view for all south facing apartments, which are the apartment with highest value in the building. The prices of other apartments will be push down also.
highest value are east facing apartments, not south and new construction is a block away. Only one building is going up any time soon
East side is totally shadowed by a hotel, which is a tall black building.
that is completely overstating the facts
I've looked at two units in that building. A guy in the elevator told me he's lived there for 15 years and really liked living there. Not sure I'd want to live under the shadow of the bridge and next to nothing but mini-storage, but the units I saw are very, very nice. Chop another 20% off their asks and I would have been interested.
I noticed the seller of the 4 bed has placed the unit up for rental as well. Gotta wonder if you couldn't squeeze some blood from that stone if you pushed real hard right now.
I live in 440 E 62nd Street and I can tell you that construction has stopped on the building on the corner of 61st and York. Also, I can say that we are one of the best maintained buildings on the UES. We recently replaoced all of our elevators and building A/C system. Just want to balance the view on our building which I am very happy to live in.
