Discussion about
While NYC is getting destroyed, Chicago remains strong and healthy. Unlike NYC, which relies almost solely on finance for revenues, Chicago has diversified into numerous industries. This year marks the beginning of the end for NYC.

How Will the Financial Crisis Affect Chicago?
http://cribchatter.com/?p=5249

“Ultimately, it’s going to have a very devastating impact on the region,” says Laleen Doerrer, a Lehman vice-president in Chicago who deals with hedge-fund customers. “There just aren’t the big employers to pick up the slack. We’ve watched our financial services industry get cannibalized by New York and Europe.”

rufus, did you not take economics at your community college?

If you think low-income Chicago will not get effected, then I have a bridge to sell you. All the important cities, i.e. NYC, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo have been affected so no doubt it will trickle down to the poor cities like Chicago and Philadelpia in no time.

chrisyslslr, don't make eye contact with rufus.

He's liable to attack you. He weaves in and out of this world and, well, *his* world, and it can be dangerous when the two meld in his mind.

chrisyslslr, the average income and educational level in Chicago is higher than NYC. most new yorkers live in dismal conditions in apartments that belong in calcutta.

New York is far far wealthier than Chicago.

Why don't you know that?

Good thing rufus doesn't let anything like facts stand in the way of his stupidity...

Rufus is some 16 year old kid who failed out of school and can't get a job anywhere, so he plays all day on his "dad's" computer....and by dad, I mean his mother's live-in, unemployed, alcoholic boyfriend who makes Rufus call him uncle when he "tucks" him in at night.

Ignore him. He just says ridiculous things to get people riled up.

Rufus, have some self-respect and log into youporn. Leave NYC RE to the adults.

waverly - lmao.. need some humor after this debacle of a day in the markets.

rufus - seriously, if you like chicago then move back there. if you can't move back for whatever reason, then just suck it up and enjoy what this city has to offer. either way, please stop posting silly pro-chicago topics on the NYC streeteasy boards.
