If the two names on the ballot are Anthony Weiner and Mike Bloomberg who will you choose?

Anthony Weiner without question. Major Asshole Boston-Bloomberg has really outdone himself with this one.

And after utterly failing over 8 years to diversify NY's economy, no less.

It must still be speculation, otherwise one would think it should be on Bloomberg.com - right?

"after utterly failing over 8 years to diversify NY's economy, no less."

actually, he's done more than most, basically eliminating the corporate income tax on S-Corporations, which is what discouraged people from starting businesses here. He also oversaw the most massive rezoning in the city's history, clearing out blighted factories, replacing them with overpriced condominiums.

If Bloomberg can't run, our next mayor will likely be Christine Quinn. Although I am not sure if the voters are ready for a homesexual mayor. This is NYC, not San Francisco.

Very funny! What would you call Ed Koch and Boston Bloomberg if not homosexual mayors?

Oh, you mean "out" homosexual mayors.

But Quinn is simply a pig, so she's out in the other sense.

Remember three years ago the NYTimes endorsing Bloomberg's 2nd term, hailing him as the best mayor in history?
That's because he's smart, thoughtful and knows what he's doing. Oh, and incorruptible, what with the personal fortune of some billions. What's the purpose of term limits? not to disqualify the best person possible for the times and the job, is it? Go Mike!

"Bloomberg has still been a failure when it comes to Ground Zero and the West Side rail yards."

He doesn't control either of them. Ground Zero = Port Authority. West Side Rail Yards = MTA.

"Although I am not sure if the voters are ready for a homesexual mayor."

Maybe I'll run, but in the future please spell homesexual correctly: "Q-u-e-e-r."

Also, Bloomberg has not managed the police department well. During his tenure, the starting salary was drastically cut to $25,000 and the size of the department has shrunk by several thousand. So don't be surprised if crime goes up.

Bloomberg has done a great job -- as did Guiliani. Perhaps you do not recall the horror show that was the Dinkins administration???? --

I always enjoyed Mayor Koch -- mostly for the entertainment value...

alpine - you live in NJ Bloomberg is not your mayor. Your mayor is Paul H. Tomasko.

This city needs Bloomberg. He is the best thing that this city has seen in years. he will win in a landslide

petrfitz is for bloomberg...he's the typical wall street guy...he has six or seven lawsuits against his company for sexist policies. I wonder if he'll win that easily.

Bloomberg has been an outstanding mayor, as was Guiliani. The low police pay was the fault of the police union. Every other union received good raises under Bloomberg.

1. Mayor Mike has really done a terrific job. This is a tough city to be Mayor of and he certainly hasn't pleased everyone all of the time, but that's not what he's supposed to do. I hope he can run a 3rd time and I think he'd win by a HUGE margin.

2. Hey, Julia surfaced! Has she explained her alter-egos yet?

3. If Bloomberg cannot run, perhaps Mayor Quimby from Springfield would have an interest?

I've also heard that Bloomberg is a down low booty puncher. He, like Kenny Chesney, uses his island vacation home to covertly cavort with young men, well outside the range of the media's spotlight. In fact, when Kenny Chesney was interviewed by 60 Minutes in St. John, guess which 60 Minutes reporter he selected to do the interview: Anderson "in the pooper" Cooper.

But back to topic, it's very "banana republic" (not the retail chain) to have a government executive extend his term beyond established limits, and using the excuse of a national crisis.

Can we start calling Boston Bloomberg "El Generalisito"?

Really? don't think you're right. I'm payin' it.

I'll take Bloomie for a 3rd term. Who else is there? Local, state, fed, I'm not happily voting for anyone who's running for anything. Wish I could re-elect TR for NYS gov &/or POTUS; we need a trustbuster.

If its not bloomberg, that militant lesbian speaker of the worhtless City Council will feel emboldened to run. She's a complete dunderhead. Hey, Hank Paulson's free in a few months.

TA -- I don't think she's a dunderhead, and I don't even think she's a lesbian (that's just en vogue). She's simply a pig. I mean, I don't want to sound porcinist or anything, but pigs is pigs.

Steve -- my understanding is that the City can change property taxes, but it's the State that must change all other taxes, including ones that are levied only on City matters. Perhaps he did some horse trading that you know of? (Or perhaps I'm wrong.)

I keep seeing all the ads for Bloomberg, not for anyone else. I am so upset that he's intimidated NY, Council and Dems and Republicans because he thinks he is the only one who can be a Mayor of this city.

Anyone else catch this? Bloomberg was discussing all the economic progress supposedly being made in New York, and when a reporter asked if those improvements meant that the overturning of the term-limits referendum was less necessary (a great question if you ask me - you can't have it both ways), Bloomberg dodged the question and insulted the reporter.

I'm curious as to what people think Bloomberg's accomplishments are that wouldn't have occurred anyway (due to the booming economy). No Olympics, no West Side Stadium...... he did 311 (which I have not found to be as useful as the claims for it have been: it's more like having a centralized complaint box).

I appreciated the big effort to reform public education, but I don't follow it closely enough to know what he and Klein actually accomplished.

There's smoking and trans-fat, but I won't comment on either for fear of sparking an argument I have no interest in.

He made a big push for the residential rezoning of Brooklyn and Queens' waterfront, even going so far as to claim that increasing inventory would help keep prices down. I don't know if his intention was really so benevolent for homebuyers, but the glut there will surely yield that result.

Hated the support he showed Bush as a phony Republican. That convention (remember Arnold's ridiculous speech?) gave him a huge boost. The connection with Lenora Fulani, and by extension Fred Newman, is beyond nauseating, and his overturning of term-limits is actually frightening.
