Sweet. I am buying every apartment along central park, what are there, 10,000 units tops? I think I'll buy the entire West Village too. Looking forward to it.
alpine292, even when that happens, you'll still be buying near the top of the market. If you wait it out a bit longer, you'll be able to get that same apartment for literally PENNIES on the dollar. Maybe even a single penny!
Hey me and Maulrax bet you a hundred billion dollars that doesn't happen! And Julia thinks you're mean little man, or something.
My crystal ball shows Manhattan will sink on January 1, 2009. Only the tops of Empire State & Chrsysler building would be left. Hudson & East rivers will merge to form Hudseaston River. Good Bye!
Hey they said weren't making any more land, but they never said anything about taking it away. That's bullsh-t. But wait... we can buy LIC now and make a fortune.
Many have predicted the death of NYC many times throughout history- and we always comeback bigger and better. As much as there are similiarities between now and the 30's and late 80's/ early 90's, etc....there are just as many differences. I have been bearish on Manhattan real estate for more than a year (obviously a little premature, but not neccessarily wrong)for the next few years, but I think that the city repeat the comeback that it has historically demonstrated.
As for the Classic 6 for $1, keep dreaming. While we did see situations like this in the late 80's/early 90's the perception of the city for decades had eroded- which is dramatically changed over the past 15 years. The city was not only in decline from the 1960's to the early 90's but it was also a pretty scary place. We would have to see a dramatic increase in crime in order for things to shift so dramatically back to this stage- while possible...not very likely. Hey, who knows...perhaps Rudy will run again if that is the case, he cleaned up the city once, he can do it again.
I think that President Palin will nationalize all residential housing. After all, our men in uniform live in national housing, and if it is okay for those that protect our freedom, why shouldn't it be okay for the rest of us. This doesn't apply to medical care, though. If you're stupid enough to get sick, you've got the 5000 tax credit.
Did you say the entire entire West Village will be for sale? I'm throwing in a low ball bid of $100 right now for the entire thing!
when did streeteasy become a board of fools rather than for real estate information???
I think it was January 14.
the funniest one I have seen is steveF predicting manhattan condos will go up only 10% next year :-)
