And the title of this thread is a living proof to the spin abilities of the right wing. "As Obama moves ahead in the polls, the market tank". It implies that Obama is tanking the market! Or maybe that fear that he is going to win is sending the people to the banks!!!! The logical reading is: it's the economy, stupid. People fears more of the same economic ideas and flee to Obama's camp. Not the other way around.

In the Classic Presidential Election Primer, it is pretty standard fare to go hard core negative if behind in the polls and election day is approaching. If McCain is really a "maverick" and ready to do things differently, running the same old plays of pols of the past is sort of an illogical way to go. Rather than reacting the same old way, why not come out hard for his policies and what his presidency would look like instead of just cutting the other guy down?

Thats a wonderful MSNBC-induced talking point, but the reality is, all campaigns are negative. Thats the point of them, to tell us the voter how the other guy is much worse than you the cadnidate are.

With Obama increasing his lead in the polls, markets not only in the US but around the world are cratering. Investors are fully aware that Obama's plan is to raise taxes on successful and hard working Americans in order to give money to those who are less so. The increasing probability of an Obama win which would raise taxes on productive Americans and productive capital at exactly the wrong time has increased the probability of a deep and prolonged recession in the US and globally. The possibility of a Japan style deflation with 15 years and counting of anemic economic growth is very real with an Obama presidency.

If you live in New York City or work here you must understand that you are looking at Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank deciding how much you get paid (a "moratorium on bonuses") with Barack Obama then deciding how much of that pay you get to keep (not much).

And no this will not be good for New York City real estate.
