Discussion about
Things are looking really bad for the city. The layoffs are deep and severe, and the city is getting crushed. No other U.S. city is suffering as much as NYC. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/30/nyregion/30layoffs.html?_r=1&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&oref=slogin

OMG -- NYC will be just like it was in the 1970s . . . for example http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/30/fashion/30CODES.html?ref=fashion

As far as I know the whole of America are suffering from a property point of view but Manhattan is still suffering the least.

Even if Manhattan is suffering, and I think it is and it will get worse, it is the greatest city in this country. We do wonderfully when we suffer, some of the assholes decamp to Greenwich and Westchester and Montclair, the artists have more living options, dining becomes a hell of a lot cheaper, and perhaps we are forced to be mere mortals, not just masters of the universe. I don't mind the masters of the universe types per se, but they've been present in awfully large numbers in the past few years.

Have fun in frigid chi-town.
