Discussion about
As London has similar financial characterisitcs to New York, it's often worthwhile taking a look at what's happening to prices there. In addition, transaction prices appear to be reported more quickly there than in New York. The two markets have also often been fairly highly correlated. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aCC1TRXWDDxI

Actually the flat I was considering in London was more expensive than the apartment here, but what ultimately killed it was that the tube ride was just too long to my job on Park Ave.

One thing about PRIME london properties are that many are only sold as 100 yr leases. You are essentially paying to rent for the rest of your life

But the lessor is pretty much obligated to sell the freehold to the lessees if all the lessees agree.
Very easy to convert to freehold.
