Agreed. I've emailed Streeteasy and hit the "report abuse" button several times, to no avail. I don't know what it does exactly, but I urge you to do so as well, as it's pretty easy to do.

Maybe they realize most people on the forums are not buyers and instead trash the market so they know they're not customers. Otherwise they would never allow this kind of nonsense. They get their money from the developers not from people like us. It's all advertising not about the forums. I wouldn't be surprised if they take the discussions off the website soon.

I started checking out these boards a few weeks ago, after being over on Brownstoner for a while.

I found a bit of nonsense, but also a lot of interesting exchanges and sharing of information.

However, it's sad to see it's been taken over by people who appear to be mentally unhinged. They have moved beyond annoying (off-topic), and are now officially frightening (off-meds). I mean, crazy. In a bad way.

bjw--yu realy don'tthink at this point it has turned the corner into insanity? whatever your position? my resolution is based on the fact that i often find myself in a pointless discussion when i could be out making money or spending time on what's important. previously, i used to come here to exchange ideas TO make money and/or work through difficult or bad business decisions i made or others made. it was less fighting and more of a master mind group, to use an old term.

eah, I agree, it's gotten out of hand. I certainly would like to see it return to what it was - I'm just hoping for all the Curbed migrators to die out (or at least the more combative types with serious cases of logorrhea), and I don't know if that'll happen at this point, but I'm a stubborn optimist, what can I say?

I've been on this site for a good while now & have learned a lot & there are some really wonderful people (others, not so much.) I have seen it evolve a number of times & it does seem to be in a particularly strange, almost nasty, place right now but I suspect that's because the economy is in the same place. I just pick & choose what I want to read & if the posts are strange I just move on; hopefully, if we just hang in there, the trolls will fade away. Meanwhile, bless all you 'good guys' & have glorious holidays!

I'm not sure what is less helpful, "where's spunky?" comments or another comparison of two incomparable items just to prove your point that real estate is more expensive than it was 5 years ago but less expensive than 1 year ago.

Agreed. Like a lot of people, I started following blogs when the crash came. But now, why bother? There is very little that's new or worthwhile on the discussions here.

Brownstoner wised up. They now have a daily open post so The What has space to rant, and the other posts have become more focused. Streeteasy should consider it.
