Get a load of the TARP application. It's only 2 pages long! THat's right, 2 PAGES long!!!! When was the last time you filled out a 2 page mortgage application? So since I need some extra money, I am officially registering as a Bnak Holding Company with the Federal Reserve. I am the First National Bank of Alpine. I will be waiting for my $3 billion check Mr. Paulson. http://www.sba.gov/idc/groups/public/documents/sba_homepage/guideline_tarp_capitalpurchase.pdf

Perhaps Paulsen & all those folk ARE that stupid. They don't seem to know where all the money has gone & there apparently were NO strings attached. It's kind of amusing but quite scary at the same time. I think Obama is absolutely correct, "It's gonna get worse before it gets better."

Paulson already spent the first half of the $350 billion. Let's hope Congress tells him to jump off a bridge when he asks fot the second half. Hopefully Congress will lock the money in a safe for when Obama becomes president.

This is insane. I am wondering if it is time for a revolt. Frankly, I'm a little upset that my tax money has paid for Goldman Bonuses. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1081624/Goldman-Sachs-ready-hand-7BILLION-salary-bonus-package--6bn-bail-out.html#comments)

This is the the letter that I recently wrote to congress on the issue, feel free to cut and paste to your rep.

Dear __________,

RE: TARP and 2008 Investment Bank Bonuses
I am writing to express my outrage over recent actions by investment banks to pay their employees, directors and officers’ significant bonuses for 2008. Normally, such largesse would not affect me and I would even applaud capitalism at work. That is if it were truly deserved.

In our current case, the investment banks have been one of the major drivers of our fiscal crisis. However, even with decimated balance sheets and the need for tax payer intervention, they have the gall to pay extravagant bonuses this year. The same year in which, hundreds of thousands of Americans are losing their jobs due to frozen credit markets.

In this argument, I site one case in particular, although this applies for the securities industry in general. Goldman Sachs, paid out bonuses of $10.5 billion after receiving $9.2 billion from US taxpayers (See: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1081624/Goldman-Sachs-ready-hand-7BILLION-salary-bonus-package--6bn-bail-out.html#comments) Now, I have one simple question – Did my tax dollars actually finance bonuses for already well off investment bankers?

I have always believed that the role of government is to protect its people. I feel that our government, my government has failed offensively in this role (See: Iraq, Katrina, Financial Crisis, Unfunded SS liability, National debt). Rampant greed and lack of thrift has not only destroyed our financial resources but our moral authority. I implore you and your fellow representatives readjust your moral compass, see past the well funded lobbyist and stop allowing the wholesale looting of tax payers. This must be stopped, or we will find someone who can stop this.

I suspect that the 2 page application is only to let them know you are "in the market" for TARP money, and that there is more scrutiny to get the money. Or at least I hope so.
