Discussion about
Can anyone recommend a good reliable mover? I am moving between buildings within Manhattan, and each building has specific times when you're allowed to move (M-F, 9-5). I don't have a lot of stuff, could do it on one day. Also, any names I should avoid? Thanks!
Manor Moving Zvi Manor-reasonable and reliable
Used them thrice for similar situations
I have used Westside Movers a few times and have been happy each time. Make sure you ask if there will be any charges for equipment rental (carts and certain boxes to move stuff), though, because they may add that to the bill at the end. I had a bad experience with Moishe's because they called the Monday before a Friday move and told me they just figured out Friday was a holiday and they did not have enough movers (I had booked that day 2 months in advance). When I cancelled the move (I found another place that could do it on that Friday), a "manager" from Moishe's called back within a matter of a couple hours and offered first to give me a discount if I would push the move to the following Monday. When I said no, they called back an hour later and offered to do it as previously scheduled on that Friday, because they now suddenly had a crew for me. I am sure they had a better customer set to go on Friday and just needed to bump somebody - lame business practice in my view. Good luck. (I will admit that my wife had used Moishe's a few times before that failed move and was happy with them - luck of the draw I guess).
I used and liked Moishe's

My wife and I have used Moishe's for three different Manhattan moves in the past four years, and would absolutely use them again. They always come well prepared, stick to their quotes (within reason), and no matter how few guys they bring to the job, it's ALWAYS been done on time, with no breakage.
I've used Moishe's twice. First time (7 years ago) they were great. Second time they were a nightmare, overcharged estimate by 800 bucks and broke several pieces of furniture.
I used this website to find a mover - http://www.citimove.com . You can submit a bid there that movers bid on, and you can view all of the feedback/ratings that other people have submitted for movers they used. I don't remember the company that I selected, but it was one of the higher ranked ones and they were excellent.
Flatrate.com -- their estimates may be higher than others, but you know you won't be getting any surprise charges
