Discussion about
I am trying to understand whether windows in the rear of a certain apartment are lot lined. The condo docs say that the lot is 70 feet from the north street line (say 65th st as an example). Does that mean the lot ends 70 feet from the point where the road meets the sidewalk or the point where the sidewalk meets the building??

The lot is measured from the building line. To see the footprint of the building on the lot, and tell whether the wall in question is on the lot line, go to www.nyc.gov, search on ACRIS, then follow the Tax Maps link. Then go to Legend and check the Building Footprint and Pavement boxes.

NWT, many thanks, that is very helpful. Looks like the lot is measured from close the edge of the building and not the edge of the road. Do you know how accurate those digital maps are?
