Discussion about
Does the Board/Building Management need to inspect the apartment and give their approval prior to allowing the seller to list the apt on the market?

that may depend on the building. i am selling a co-op FSBO and I did contact management to get some things (financial statements, buyer application package, etc.) from them beforehand but I did not "ask their permission" to sell my place.

Misc - Did you drastically alter the apartment without coop board approval? If so, that might be an issue.

We basically made our hallway wider by about 1" and knocked down a closet in our bedroom.

That doesn't sound like it should be a problem at all. I think plumbing and electrical tend to be the areas of most concern to coop boards when it comes to renovations because they can impact other tenants.
