Discussion about
Planning on removing a closet wall. I think the wall is a non bearing bearing wall in the apartment. How long would it take for the city to issue the permit? Or do I not need a permit for this?

I don't know the answer. That said, I'd first, check with your coop (if that is what you have) about whether this requires an alteration agreement and any type of building approval. If you are not altering existing room layouts I'm not sure you need a city permit. A good source of info is often the super. The super will often know if there is anything other than studs inside the wall.

I am approaching a similar issue. How bad is it to bypass the NYC dept of Building if the coop itself approves the work? Can that come back to haunt? If so, how ugly does it get? Thanks.
