Discussion about
I just checked the thread about Stuy Town and read Julia's post about she getting sick. I have no idea if this is someone's bad joke posting in her name. If not, I just wanted to tell her that I am very sorry. You know, at least we happen to live in an age where this epidemic sickness gets cured. All my friends who got it are fine now. You'll be ok. Time is on your side. I don't pray, but I'll add to the universe my best wishes for a fast and easy recovery.
ditto. I didn't see her post on that, but if its true, my heart goes out to her.
I'll also join you and send my best wishes out to her!
Sending you my best wishes, sweetheart.
Julia -- I'm very sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
I wish you the best in dealing with this, and encourage you to contact Gilda's Club, sooner rather than later. I joined a family support group there when my sister was diagnosed with cancer, and it made the whole thing easier to understand (if that makes little sense at this point, it will soon enough). I'm sure their groups for people dealing with cancer are at least as good as the family groups. It's not annoying "group therapy", but really helps put all the aspects of dealing with it into perspective.

All the best, Julia. A friend of mine had cancer and he is ok now, after some difficult times. Hang tough.
Sending you my best wishes as well
Julia, we've had our differences, but please accept my most heartfelt wishes that courage and grace surround you as you rise to this challenge--which you most surely will. Stay strong!
Julia, Kick ass from w67! Wishing you the best...
Thxs for letting us know mimi...
Julia, I know firsthand how overwhelming a diagnosis this can be. In my experience, the most important tasks are first, to reduce, and where possible, to eliminate stress and second, to cultivate and practice care and compassion toward toward yourself. I think you can tell from this thread that you have a chorus of well-wishers on SE.
Julia I am so sorry and add my voice to the chorus of well-wishers and people who will send out vibes for you.
I'm not living in NY right now but if I were to get sick would run back to establish residency and get NY health insurance--pricey but you can't be denied.
You have Memorial Sloan Kettering and other incredible hospitals
I know it's overwhelming. I hope your sister and other family members and friends are around to attempt to take much of the stress off you.
It's so hard to stay positive and keep a sense of humor but you must
And Julia if arguing with people on StreetEasy helps you--then go for it girl
Hey Julia - really sorry to hear. I wish all the best for you, and an easy, speedy recovery. Stay strong and positive!
julia - or thoughts are with you. hang tough and kick its ass!
I feel she'll be happy if she opens SE find all this posts...if anybody know how to contact her, please let her know.
knows
I think this thread should be kept up front for a while. It's more important than anything else I see on here.
hang tuff!!!!!
Mimi, thank you for starting this thread.
Julia, things may get nasty here from time to time, but you've got a bunch of people sincerely pulling for you. I know you're a fighter, so stay strong (I LOVED you calling Stuy Town to ask about RS apartments!). Just like real estate, do a lot of your own research and gather info from multiple sources. Add me to the list of people wishing you a speedy recovery.
streeteasy, can you email this link to the address associated with her account? It looks like she hasn't posted for a number of days and we all hope she'll see this.
Julia: Best of everything to you. Looking forward to having you back after you beat this thing.
An SE post without fighting? That says everything.
We're all pulling for you, Julia!
Ditto all that - we believe in you julia!
Julia, what a blessing it is for one to know how many people one's life has touched! In every adversity one faces, there is a greater good. If all this good will is coming from people who have never met you, can you imagine what warmth is surrounding you from people who know and love you. Wrap yourself in it, let it lift your spirits. You will be fine.
Julia- add me to the list of well wishers. You're part of this family here. Hope your treatments are successful.
Yes Julia--all my very very best wishes and thoughts for the speediest, most painless and streamlined road back to perfect health for you.
Julia you will find your amazing and well priced studio and you will beat this! Wishing you the speediest of recoveries.
We're all pulling for you Julia.
Let's try to keep this thread on the first page so Julia will see it when she logs on.
Saw your name as subject of this post -- remembered your kind words.
Folks on this site embrace you and want to see you win the fight.
Livestrong now more than ever.
Julia, you're in my prayers.

Julia - best wishes to you for a speedy recovery!
Julia...hope your fight is easier to take than some of the spats we deal with here. But we are ALL rooting for you and invoking what is no doubt a diverse roster of dieties for your assistance. You'll come through this fine and you and your white furry friend will find the alcove studio of your dreams at the right price before you know it.
Best wishes Julia, hang in there.
can anybody call her?
Please get well very soon.
Maybe SE can send her a notice with our wishes...Can you do that SE?
Great idea Mimi and thanks for beginning this thread which is more important...
Julia you fight this and I bet you can find a small one bedroom on Riverside
Just wanted to bump the thread and see if anyone has heard from Julia. Btw, there was a Julia on the SE Facebook fan page but I can't seem to get back there (I'm not a Facebook person), perhaps someone who is on Facebook can find it, figure out if its the same Julia and figure out how to contact her so we can send our greetings and wishes.
any word?
julia - i just saw a post by you on another thread. people wanna know what is going on.
I also saw her post on that thread. Was 16 hours ago.
Bump.
I'm so scared that it's hard for me to post...but your messages are wonderful...i have melenoma..all from a small mole on my lower leg..going thru the process..thank you everyone...that small one bedroom looks far away..
Julia, thanks for posting! How lucky are you to now recognize that an apartment is nothing compared to your health. Keep your chin up. Good things are coming your way. We are all pulling for you!
Thanks for checking in with us, Julia. It'll be a big one bedroom by the time you're ready, and you WILL be ready.
Julia--I know this is a real estate board but by posting--you have just upped the percentage of people who will be going to the dermatologist to get moles checked out. Thank you
Julia, take care and get well soon! Good to see you back on SE.
My grandmother had melanoma on her leg 25 years ago when she was 65. I visited her last week. She is now 89. All my best.
Julia:
Take care of yourself. It is nice to see people on this board put their opinions, politics etc. aside to come together and cheer someone on. Get well soon. :)
Hi Julia,
I had a melenoma 20 years ago and emmerged fine and am still fine 20 years later. Hang in there. There are a lot of people out there like me.
kylewest...you brought happy tears to me..thank you...i'll know more on wednesday and, of course, the waiting is horrible.
Julia, still checking up on you! You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Julia, I send you my best wishes to a safe and speedy recovery you are in my prayers.
Julia,
The chat board misses it's cheese cake!
What's ranting about RE without some sweets.
Quick recovery to you!
Julia - keep the faith. Melanoma is highly treatable. Hang in there and let us know what happens tomorrow.
Julia, you'll be in my prayers.
Hi Julia,
I hope Wednesday brought good news, and if not that then at least some resolution of the waiting and uncertainty. As lo888 pointed out, melanoma is among the types of cancer that's highly treatable these days.
Let us know how you're doing when you're up for it.
One thing we all seem to agree on at StreetEasy is that we miss your postings! We are thinking of you!
Julia, I have been on vacation and I missed this entirely. My thoughts and prayers are with you. As I have noted on another thread, cancer not only runs in my family, it races marathons. The success rates have been mixed, but more than not have survived (and with a forty-year time frame, although the successes have increased over time).
My brother had a melanoma (large, very, won't give details) removed from his head 20 years ago. He still is full of the piss and vinegar.
If you feel up to it, please share any news. We're behind you 200%. You go girl.
Hi Julia, I was out of circulation, too. You'll beat this. Both my parents have survived cancer, and they're both doing great. Better than great. Stay informed, ask questions, and keep the people you love involved, whatever treatment you need.
Hope Wednesday brought good news. Streeteasy loves you!
I found out yesterday it wasn't melanoma it was a skin cancer squarmous cell and I'm having surgery next week but it's nothing like melanoma. Thanks to everyone for your postings....
Hey Julia, I'm delighted to hear that it's only squamous-cell . . . much less evil. I'm great that you caught it and are on top of it, in any event. Pat yourself on the back and try to unwind from the stress of it all.
I meant "***It's*** great..."
Thanks for sharing your good news! See what can happen when all the good vibes come your way!
newbie...you're so right...I'll be back on the board soon enough and you guys can start yelling at me again!!!
Yay!! Great, great news. So glad you let us know. Look forward to arguing more soon!
Julia, I am very happy with the good news. Keep us posted.
